Year 3/4 Sports hall Athletics Team
On Friday 27th January 2017, the Year 3/4 Athletics team competed in the Duston Cluster Sports hall Athletics Competition. With a strong squad of 12, the team were well practiced and ready to put their hard work from afterschool club practices into action. The competition had all the major indoor Athletics events, including the 1 x 1 relay, 2 x 2 relay, 4 x 1 relay, the 6 lap paarlauf, the obstacle relay, the standing long jump, standing triple jump, speed bounce, javelin and chest push. Each athlete competed in both a track and field event and their points were totalled up throughout the competition. Finishing either 1st or in the top 3 in everyone of the track events the team went into the field events section of the competition confidently. They all performed brilliantly in the field events against some very strong opposition but they did not give up and threw and jumped the best they could. As the competition drew to a close, all of the 10 schools involved sat patiently waiting for the results to be read out. St James came 2nd! The team was so happy with the result and Miss Meyler was so pleased that they had fun and performed so well. Well done everyone!
