St James' Family Newsletter
ST JAMES’ FAMILY NEWSLETTER
2nd October 2017
Dear Parents and Friends of St James,
I wanted to say a huge thank you for all the parents and friends who supported the Macmillan Coffee Morning last week – it was a fantastic morning with lots of visitors into school to share a drink and cake with their children.
£581.50 was raised
Thank you for your support!
I would also like to thank those families who donated harvest gifts which will be distributed to the Hope Centre for local families in need. It has been a very busy week in school and I have enjoyed meeting so many of you.
Our Parents Evenings are next week – Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th October. There will be a letter in your child’s book bag today explaining a new process of booking appointments. Each afternoon, after school, your child’s teacher will be able to book appointments directly with you. These appointment sheets will be in the school office during the day so if you are unable to book directly with your child’s teacher, please contact the school office and they will be able to offer you time slots. We also would like to request that all children in Years 1 – 6 attend parents evening with their parents.
I have been made aware that some parents are worried about the behaviour of other children in school. We take all incidents of bullying very seriously but unless we are alerted to concerns that you have, we cannot address it. Please contact a member of staff if you have worries or if you feel your concerns have not been dealt with appropriately, please contact me or Mrs Bilkhu. Usually disagreements and issues between children can be sorted quickly and easily without escalating into a bigger problem.
I look forward to meeting many of you at our Parents’ Evenings next week.
WANTED – NEW PARENT GOVERNOR
If you are interested in helping us to move the school forward and being part of this exciting development time for St James, please come and talk to Mrs Beach. You need to be able to attend 6 meetings a year (straight after school, free child care available in Octopus Club for meetings) and be available occasionally during the day to complete monitoring visits. This is your school – your input is needed!
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS BOUGHT A NEW PE T-SHIRT – OUR CHILDREN LOOK VERY SMART IN THEIR PE LESSONS!
Year 6 parents – please do not forget the 31st October deadline to make your secondary school application. Please contact the school office if you would like some support with this process and we will be happy to help.
