St James' Family Newsletter

Dear Parents and Friends of St James,

Christmas has arrived at St James!!

We spent a very enjoyable and exciting day on Friday watching the pantomime Beauty and the Beast as well as making decorations for around school. The school looks wonderful. Thank you to all the staff who put in so much effort during and after school to get everything ready and a huge thank you to the ‘Friends of St James’ whose fundraising paid for the pantomime. We also raised a fantastic £191 for Save the Children by wearing our Christmas jumpers! What a great day!

We are looking forward to welcoming you into school over the next couple of weeks for our Early Years and KS1 Nativity performances as well as seeing you in St James Church on Monday 18th December for our KS2 Carol Service – we are expecting all KS2 children to attend this service and all parents are more than welcome to join us too. This coming Wednesday is our termly Eucharist. Please join us at 9am if you would like to take part.

Please check and return the data sheet that is in book bags today so that we can update our contact records. We use this data to send you texts and messages as well as to contact you if your child is poorly or if it starts to snow and we need to close the school. We would like to start using emails for more letters and reduce our photocopying bill – please fill in your email address on the data sheet if you would like us to use this method of contacting you. If you have questions about the data we hold, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.

Best Wishes,

Sarah Beach

The Friends group are continuing the cake raffle every Friday. Don’t forget to buy tickets each week and if you can help out by baking a cake one week, please let the office know.

If a decision to close the school is made because of bad weather overnight, the announcement will be made on the school website ( and on the local radio, Radio Northampton and Heart FM. Please do not call the school as the office will not be staffed.

If the school is closed during the school day, you will receive a text to come and collect your child. Please ensure we have up to date contact details by returning the data collection sheet attached to this newsletter.

We have a vacancy for a Parent Governor. Nomination forms will be sent out shortly but if you are interested, please speak to a member of staff or contact the school office on / 01604 751475

Ordering School dinners

Please note that ALL school dinners must be ordered by 9.30am. If you arrive after this time, you will need to ensure that a packed lunch is brought in from home.

As you know, holidays are not authorised if taken during term time. Parents do not have an automatic right for their children to have authorised absence. Parents can be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice which can require a parent to pay a sum of £120.00. Each parent can be issued with a notice for each child so two parents with two children can potentially be issued with four notices. The Council has recently started to reinforce this policy and has issued a significant number of fixed penalty notices to families of St James.

If you need to take your child out of school FOR ANY REASON, please talk to Mrs Beach or Mrs Bilkhu before you make any bookings.
