Dear Parents and Friends of St James,
We had a fantastic Christmas Craft Day last week and the school looks wonderful for the festive season. Our hall display, inspired by Kandinsky, is particularly beautiful – thanks to Ms Douch and Mrs Mousir-Harrison for their wonderful idea and for bringing it to life in school!
It is fast approaching the end of term and there is lots to do both in and out of school. Please see the details below for tickets and timings of our events.
Snack with Santa – tickets for Snack with Santa have all sold. Children who are attending will need to be collected at 5.30pm.
Christmas Dinner – This will take place on Wednesday 12th December. If you have not ordered a Christmas lunch, children will need a home packed lunch as no other food will be available to order.
Nativities – There are still a small amount of tickets left for all performances so please speak to the office if you haven’t already requested any.
Christmas Parties in each class take part on the afternoon of Monday 17th December – there will be a list posted in each classroom for food/drink items to bring in. The school kitchen will provide sandwiches and children will not need to bring in or book a lunch on that day! Children can bring in party clothes to change into at lunchtime for the afternoon.
The KS2 Nativity/Carol Concert on Monday 17th December at 6pm will be at St Mary’s Church in Dallington and not at St James. We hope that as many children and families as possible join us for this very special event.
We have been notified that a development of 20 homes is planned to be built on the site of the garages and St James Works on Vicarage Road/Baring Road. I have met with the developers and seen the plans for the homes as well as discussed the plans for demolition of the current buildings. If planning permission is approved, this demolition will take place at Easter 2019 to minimise disruption to our school. If you have any questions for me or would like to see the plans please pop in to the office. If you would like to raise an objection or ask more detailed questions of the developer, you can do so online at http://planning.northamptonboroughcouncil.com/planning using the reference number N/2018/1587.
We will be attending St James Church for our final Christmas service on Tuesday 18th December at 2pm. You are more than welcome to join us and take your children directly home after the service at around 3pm. Children not collected from church, or those not attending church for religious reasons can be collected from school at the normal time.
Please remember that school closes at 1:30pm on Wednesday 19th December. After School Club will be running at the earlier time of 1.30-4.00pm. Children need to be collected by 4pm or late fees will be applied.
I hope to see all of you at some point over the next week or so but if I do not, I wish you a very peaceful Christmas and enjoyable New Year. I look forward to seeing you all back in school on Monday 7th January 2019!
Best Wishes for the festive season,
