Year 3/4 Gymnastics Team

The Year 3/4 Gymnastics Team took part in the Level 2 School Games Gymnastics Competition on Wednesday 11th January 2017 at The Duston School. The competition consisted of the gymnasts performing set routines across three disciplines, The Floor, Body Management and the Vault. The gymnasts were required to learn the routines off by heart and perform them to their best ability. The St James girls performed perfectly. They had put so much effort into learning the routines and perfecting each skill prior to the competition. With the high number of schools wanting to attend the competition, two venues were used, with the competitions being held at the same time. At the end of the competition it was announced that St James had come 1st! We then had to wait and see if the team had earned enough points to go through to the County competition. Unfortunately, the schools that came 1st and 2nd in the competition held at the different venue, had more points than us and qualified into the next round. It was a real a shame, but they girls knew that they performed as best they could and were happy that they came 1st in their competition against 9 other schools. Meaning they came 3rd out of 20 overall. Miss Meyler was so proud of the team, well done superstars!

Team: Naomi M, Shanna and Gracie H.

The Year 3/4 Gymnastics Team also took part in the Duston Cluster Competition on Friday 24th March 2017. A different squad were chosen for this competition with the majority of the team being Year 3's with this being the first time they have represented the school.

The same format was used with the team performing three set routines on three different disciplines. The team performed brilliantly and had learnt their routines off by heart, they were so pleased with how well they performed. The team was also congratulated on their sportsmanship, by the competition organiser for clapping and congratulating other competitors after they had performed. At the end of the competition, the results were announced. St James came 1st! The team were so happy and Miss Meyler was very proud that all their hard work had paid off! Well done!

Team: Lucus, Jonathon, Ghalib, Luna, Julia and Nahvea.
