We are a Christian Foundation which embraces and celebrates all faiths, recognising and valuing similarities and differences. As a Church of England school we are inspired to fulfil God's purpose by serving our community in educating and nurturing all children and their families.
Our School Badge incorporates scallop shells, the traditional emblem of St James. They are associated with the shrine of St James at Santiago de Compostela, Spain and also celebrate his fisherman origins. The dove and olive branch symbolise peace and the Holy Spirit.
We aim to:
Offer the opportunities to enable all children to achieve to the best of their ability and aptitude and develop spiritual, moral, social and cultural values.
Model courtesy and respect for others and their views in the way we all act.
Educate children to become independent and responsible world citizens.
Fulfil and play an active role in the community we serve, raising aspirations for all.
Provide a welcoming environment where children and adults know they are and happy.
Ensure equal opportunity for all.
Our school is rooted in Christian values.
Each term on a rolling two year programme, one of our twelve values is highlighted and becomes a focus. Children learn what the value means and how it is important to them and how they lead their lives.
Our values are:
RESPONSIBILITY JUSTICE TRUST
FORGIVENESS THANKFULNESS COMPASSION
RESPECT LOVE FRIENDSHIP
HONESTY PEACE TOLERANCE
Each value has a linked Bible verse
John 14:1 (Jesus’ words to his disciples)
‘Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.’
