Pupil Premium Funding

The Government awards additional funding to schools to raise the attainment of disadvantaged, looked after or service family children.  In 2016/17, this funding was £1320 per pupil identified as disadvantaged, £1900 for looked after children and £300 for children of Service personnel.  At St James, this money is spent in an number of ways including the provision of Free School Meals (for disadvantaged children); financial support for school trips and extra-curricular activities as well as funding additional staff in school to provide targeted interventions and classroom support.  If you think you may be eligible for Pupil Premium funding, please contact the school office and we will be delighted to support you through the application process.

PE and Sports Premium Funding

The Government currently provides additional funding for PE and Sport. In 2016/17, this was £16,000 plus £10/pupil. At St James, we allocate this money to enhance the sporting provision for all children, enhancing experiences and  providing state of the art equipment for PE lessons and to develop extra-curricular opportunities.
