Tag Rugby

Year 5/6 Tag Rugby Team

On Friday 7th October 2017 the Year 5/6 Tag Rugby took part in their Tag Rugby tournament of the year. They took part in the Level 2 School Games Competition held at Northampton Casuals Rugby Club. St James were put into a group with 3 other teams. They managed to win their first two games and closely drew their third. This meant that they confidently went through to the quarter final play off. The team were up against a very strong opposition but they knew that all they could do is try their best and keep working well as a team. St James were first on the score board after scoring two fantastic tries but as the team started to tire, the opposition took advantage and scored three very good tries. St James battled through to the final whistle but unfortunately lost. The team were disappointed, but were happy with their performances overall. The results were announced at the end of the tournament with St James finishing 4th. Well done to the whole team for persevering and not giving up!

Team: Aleksandr, Maksymillian, Halima, Toby, Jayda, Ansel, Harvey, Celia, Jogoda and Skye.

On Friday 9th December 2017, The Year 5/6 Tag Rugby Team took part in the Duston Cluster Tag Rugby Competition held at The Duston School. A slightly different team was chosen for this event as they had been attending the Tag Rugby after school clubs and had worked really hard learning the rules and tactics of the game. They were all keen to put what they had learnt into action. St James won their first game, drew their second and lost their third game but this still qualified them into the quarter final play 'off match. They narrowly missed out on the winning the know out game but were very happy with their performance. Miss Meyler was so pleased that they had done so well. They came 4th overall out of the 10 schools that attended the competition. Well done!

Team: Toby, Joseph, Amani, Yusuf, Nadya, Nkem, Andreea and Summer.
