St James' Family Newsletter

Dear Parents and Friends of St James,

Welcome back to St James! It was lovely to see so many smiley faces coming into school yesterday and this morning – the children have clearly had a wonderful summer break and you seem pleased to have them back in school!

Thank you to everyone who has set up their ParentPay account for booking and paying for school dinners. Please note that even if you are eligible for free school meals including Universal Infant Free School Meals (for children in Reception and Key Stage 1) you need to have an account to book your children’s meals. School dinners can no longer be booked in school. If you have not activated your account by Monday 9th September, we will assume that you will be sending your child to school with a home packed lunch. Should you need any assistance, please contact the school office.

We have been busy over the summer planning lots of exciting events so please take a look overleaf and put the dates in your diary. Our first events are our ‘Meet the Teacher’ sessions where we invite you to meet with your child’s new teacher, hear more about the curriculum and topics for this term and have the opportunity to ask any questions. Please sign in through the Studio Door to attend one of these sessions at 2:45pm.

Can we take this opportunity to remind you about school uniform? Children should wear a white shirt / polo shirt, dark skirt or trousers, dark shoes (no coloured, neon trainers, please) and a school jumper or cardigan. In addition, children need a pale blue T-shirt for PE, dark shorts and trainers/plimsolls. PE T-shirts and school jumpers are available to buy or order from the School Office along with school coats, book bags and PE bags, though these are not compulsory. Please ensure all school uniform is labelled. The amount of ‘lost’ property that we had at the end of term was staggering. Most of it was new but hardly any of it was named so we were unable to reunite it with its owner and it has been donated to a clothing charity.

A key focus for this year is a drive to be more eco-friendly and to work towards our Green Flag award. If any parents / grandparents / friends would like to help with this – either by being part of the Eco-team or by coming in and helping to set up our vegetable and flower beds with some gardening support please let us know – any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Please do contact me or the school office if you have any questions, concerns or comments to share.

Best Wishes,

Sarah Beach
