New arrangements from 5th Jan 2021
As a follow up from the Government’s announcement yesterday, school is now open only for children of key worker parents and those who are vulnerable.
If you have not already provided us with evidence of key worker status, please make sure we have this over the next day or so. If you are currently isolating but require a space for key worker or vulnerable children you MUST let us know by the end of tomorrow and the child's return date to school.
Children in school will be taught in their year group by one of their current teachers. We will not be mixing year groups for teaching.
From tomorrow, 6th Jan, children can arrive at school between 8:45 and 9:00 am via the normal entrance and need to be picked up between 3:00 and 3:15pm from outside their year group door using the same routine that has been in place this academic year (i.e. walking around the outside of school).
Children who are not accessing face to face teaching at school will need to login every day from home. They will be taught online by a class teacher and registers will be taken. It is expected that ALL children at home access these sessions.
In Year 2 to Year 6, teaching will be delivered by Zoom in 4 one-hour slots: 9:00 – 10:00, 10:30 – 11:30, 12:30 – 1:30 and 2:00 – 3:00
Children in year 1 will access teaching via Zoom from 9:00 – 10:00, 10:30 – 11:30 and 1:00 – 2:00
Children in Early Years (including Nursery) will access teaching throughout the morning – a separate timetable will be sent.
Whilst we recognise that this may cause some families concern and that not every child will have access to a device to use at home, we need to stress that the remote education of children is a priority and every effort must be made to access the teaching provided. If you do not have appropriate devices to use at home, please contact the school. We have been supplied with a small number of devices to allocate to children however there are not enough for everyone. We will make decisions about the allocation process once we know the demand.
Packs are being prepared for all children who will be learning at home. These will be available to be picked up from school from 12:30 today – please come to the Hall to pick up your pack. The pack will include books and resources necessary for accessing the teaching from home.
Every effort will be made over the next few weeks to ensure your child has access to high quality teaching at home or in school. To support this, we ask that the decisions made this week are kept across the whole shutdown. For example, if you are a key worker or your child is vulnerable, that your child comes to school every day as they would normally do. Learning is likely to progress at different rates at home and in school and it is important that children access school OR home learning and do not mix and match.
Later today, you will receive zoom codes to access remote teaching tomorrow and I will send more information as I have it about access to Free School Meals etc.
Please bear with us at this time as things settle into a new routine but if you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact school.
