School opening after May Half Term

Dear Parents / Carers,

I would like to update you on some of our plans for school opening after the May half term holiday.

  1. School will open to children in N/R/1/6 and those of key workers or vulnerable families in other year groups on Tuesday 2nd June. This means that staff can set up school on the Monday in preparation for opening the following day. School will be closed to all children (including those of key workers or those who are vulnerable) on Monday 1st June.
  2. We will not require children coming into school from Tuesday 2nd June to wear uniform. This is because Government advice is to change clothes daily and I am pretty sure you do not have 5 sets of uniform nor do you want to be washing each evening!
  3. Start and finish times will be staggered based on surname to reduce the number of adults and children on site at any one time. Please stick to these drop off and pick up times. Please also be advised that the Lewis Road gate will not be open and only pedestrian access will be allowed through the Harlestone Road entrance (no vehicle drop offs between 8:30 – 9:30 or pick ups 2:30 – 3:30).  For parents who are key workers, we can offer an earlier drop off or later pick up by arrangement with Mrs Beach.
  Start Time Finish Time
Surname A - E 8:45 - 9:00 2:30 - 2:45
Surname F - M 9:00 - 9:15 2:45 - 3:00
Surname N - Z 9:15 - 9:30 3:00 - 3:15
By arrangement with Mrs Beach 8:30 - 8:45 3:15 - 3:30

Please note that Government guidelines do not recommend the wearing of face coverings in schools but if your child feels more comfortable wearing one, we will not ask them to remove it. However, I would ask that any face coverings worn are child friendly and not pictures of skeletons/skulls nor are they too ‘medical’ looking as this may scare our younger children.

I will update you again with more information about our plans over the next week but I hope this initial information gives you enough notice to sort out your arrangements for your child returning to school. If you have any questions, or wish to discuss earlier drop offs or later pick ups, please contact me.
